Remembering Billie Holiday

July 17, 2009, marked the 50th anniversary of the death of the legendary Billie Holiday. Lady Day was an icon in every sense of the word. It's safe to say that she was the greatest jazz singer of all time. Sadly, she only lived to be 44.

Please enjoy these incredibly rare interviews of Lady Day.

Billie Holiday's gravesite is in St. Raymond Cemetary in The Bronx. I visited it about 3 years ago. To say the least, it was very moving. I hope you enjoyed this extensive array of Lady Day photos.

Dedicated to the preservation of jazz music, an American art form.
